Why I Became A Business

So, the real reason I decided to become a business is because it’s something that I needed to do, so that I can say that it’s possible. For my family, and especially for my children. I needed to have something that I can show my daughters when they get older to show them that you can do anything you put your mind to. For them to see that real work can produce anything.
That’s the biggest reason.
But, like I said before there are lots of reasons why you should form an LLC for your new business, check out this list right here for some great examples.
Let’s go over what I had to do in order to start the LLC.
I’m in Ohio, so I already knew I was planning to do business in Ohio, but I also needed to make sure I could do business anywhere. So make sure to file to do business in other states as well. Then, I needed to find a name. My grandmother, I call her “Mammaw”, always had a joke in our family that since our last name is “Hylton” that we have the HY Factor. It was always a fun joke during holidays and I decided that my name would be “HY Design”.

I needed to then get my logo and website figured out. For me, this was the most enjoyable part so far. Well, because I love designing things. Being a graphic designer, it made it easy to just do it myself. I created my logo, but it went through quite a few drafts before I found the one I liked best. This can sometimes be the most troublesome step to find the right “look” for your company. From there, I made my website and used the “ugly launch” method that I learned from my friend and mentor, Maria Daniels. She has a great marketing mind and also runs her own business consulting company that has since partnered with HY Design, called Reset Business Consulting.
